Pia and her Eco-friendly tips

Pia is a wonderful volunteer of Greenpeace. You can say wonderful again – unlike other volunteers, she actually enjoys and takes her job saving the earth seriously.

Usually, Greenpeace volunteers would stay out in the streets, shouting their lungs out at passers-by for their attention. They really would want to spread the word on how to save big old Mother Earth. It’s a hard, sometimes thankless, job. But Pia takes it with stride.

So in an especially hot summer afternoon, with a lot of people lounging out in the heat of the sun, Pia the wonderful Greenpeace volunteer decided to make her move. Standing on top of a small pedestal, she held a small placard and screamed her life out.

This is what was said by Pia on that day, and some parts of what was written on that placard:

BYO Bag, Thank You!
Pia stressed the importance of the use of eco-friendly canvass bags. You know, the one commonly offered in groceries nowadays. She said that bringing and using these bags can help out the erase the use of vile plastic bags. The plastic bags, according to her, are one of the major killers of the environment. These plastic bags can destroy large habitats of some of the world’s endangered animal species. It can also be burned and effectively burn a hole in the ozone layer. And besides, she did say, eco-friendly bags are fashionable! They come in tons of designs!

Walk this Way, Talk my Way
She dreaded cars so much, that Pia was actually shouting at the nearby, jammed traffic of steel vehicles. She said that it’s better to walk than ride, that walking can help lessen the major damage done to the planet. Pia also said that people seem to abuse the use of vehicles so much, that most have already forgotten how beautiful a simple activity like walking can be. Besides, she said, walking is good for your health!

Recycle, recycle, recycle!
Pia spend almost most of her speech on recycling. She talked about on the many things you can turn used newspapers to: toys, notebook covers, food wraps, art projects, etc. She also said that if all people decided to recycle their trash, then we all wouldn’t need to worry about landfills anymore.

Out of breath, sweating and panting hard, Pia sat down at the street curb. She said her piece, now that’s OK. What she didn’t expect was the rush of people. All wanted in with Greenpeace.

Why not live the green life? Do like Pia did, help save the planet!
